Ending the trip

Our last day in Anchorage included the Animal conservation center, cooking, and it was July 4th.

If you follow my grandpa on Facebook then you’ll be able to see some photos of what we have seen. But we saw bison, elk,reindeer,porcupine, moose, musk ox, black and brown bears. Then ending the day with cooking dinner. We tried to stay up for the fireworks that were scheduled for around sunset at 11:00pm! But we had to catch a plane early the next day, so when there were no fireworks by 11:20, we got ready for bed. Still no fireworks. But just after we all got settled in bed, guess what I heard overhead?!

Grandma’s Comments

Obiously, Allison loved, loved, loved the kids club. But I think we wore her out. While we were in Anchorage, she slept often, even going through amazing scenery. We also did not have phone/WiFi in    Alaska. We also had her doing her summer reading. But there are some memories I think she would have shared if she had time....we stayed in  a lovely Airbnb house and Allison wanted to cook. She made lavender sugar cookies from a kit we got in Washington, egg casserole, and taco turnovers. While it did not rate scenic photos, Allison had looked up recipes in advance.

We went to earthquake park and the next day we set off for Denali State Park. But withoutGoogle maps, we took wrong turn... after many miles, we turned around, took a random road labeled glacier access,  and ended up climbing on a glacial moraine and onto a glacier! That’s Alaska!

There are lots of firsts I was hoping would get recorded here that did not, but it was a very busy trip. Allison ate duck and swordfish for the first time, mage her first friend from Australia, learned Shuffleboard. Nd Deal or No Deal, went without her phone for a week, caught her first king salmon, etc., etc.

Last Day on the Ship

Last day/night on the ship

I had a fun time and I spent most of my time in the kids club because I wanted to spend as much time w/ friends.At lunch time I had lunch with my friends. Then I packed and went to the pajama night which was the last night and we told secrets, had pillow fights and we had to say goodbye😢which was really hard. But I had a fun time and since I had some friends’ numbers, I can call and text them!

Glacier. Bay National Park

• I woke up earlier than I would usually. ( around 8:00) then everyone else woke up. But the boat had stopped and we saw some really big and beautiful mountains and glaciers. Like I do everyday, I just went to the kids club and we had to army crawl across the floor and get a special gem which I of course had been the fastest to get against 20 others!  But I got the gem and survived the night. 

Skagway

• We started the day with the Big fishing trip. It took a while before we received a bite. But I was The closest to the line so I caught it and I got the biggest fish on the trip. Then we traveled towards the Yukon and saw some really tall mountains. Then we headed back to the ship. This was an eventful day!    Allison

Juneau

Juneau- O MY GOODNESS... Today was so unrealistic. We went up to the mountains a s saw more snow! The snow was at Mendenhall Glacier visitor Center. It was such an amazing sight! We saw some really pretty flowers and I of course took a lot of pictures. We we went panning for gold and I got a lot of gold flakes! But we forgot the gold in the rental car so... grandma saved the day by calling the company and having them ship it to their house. This day was fun!

Ketchikan

Today started pretty early but really good... We had room service bring us the breakfast we wanted. Then we went outside and explored Ketchikan. The first thing I did was go zip lining with grandpa, then after we all saw a lumber jack show. I have a question for you... If you have ever been to a mid evil festival ?? Well The jousters always pick a lady to respresent them, well I was like that but got a card and kept cheering for the man that picked me. After that I went crazy because I saw that there was like 10 different stores that were giving FREE things that I liked but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time. But I did get a free shirt, bracelet, pearl earrings, and charm. Which are all pretty cool and we’re FREE!! Today was fun.

Cruising to Alaska...a day at sea

Today was really just about exploring. There is really so much to do like ping-pong, swimming,golf, soccer,basetball, etc. but something that I saw that I like is Splash Academy (A kids club were no parents Allowed!). It was exciting meeting new people and now I have 7 friends from kids club and it is fun because after my friends and I are done grandma and grandpa let’s me get ice cream with them! From doing a little balloon show, we learn how to make puppies and swords. Today was really fun!

Olympic Park

We started our day with a nice breakfast at the hotel. Then we went ferry which was pretty long and when you went to the top deck it was FREEZING. We had Grandpa drive us to the mountains and well, let me tell you, the sight was breath taking. After climbing the super-duper-tall mountain, we headed back to the hotel but we made some pit stops and that’s were I took a lovely picture of Grandma and Grandpa. We had a long day. Before going to the ferry, we stoped for lunch and the food wasn’t really bad and I am surprised because it was a small town. After we went on another ferry which we were Extremely lucky!  I say that because we were the last car in and we were basically squeezed into the spot. Like I said it was a long and exciting day.
